Siemens AŞ is currently operating in its Kartal factory, a facility covering an area of 90,000 sqm in İstanbul and delivering its production to the energy, industry and healthcare sector. The company, within the framework of its growth plans in Turkey, recently realized a great investment on 150 000 square meter area in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone. The figure of its total investment to be performed in Phase I and Phase II will reach 100 million Euros.
Siemens new Gebze Facility was put into service today with a ceremony in which Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hilmi Güler, Siemens AG President and CEO Peter Löscher, Siemens AG Energy Sector CEO Wolfgang Dehen and Siemens AŞ CEO Hüseyin Gelis participated. Siemens A.Ş. with its energy sector products exports to over 80 countries in 5 continents thanks to the advanced Turkish engineering, by which its epithet of "world supplier" was earned, will continue its production related to energy sector and administrative functions in approximately 35.000 square meter indoor area for the first phase. Siemens Gebze Facilities stood as a candidate for obtaining the first green building certificate (LEED Gold) of Turkey.
Siemens AG CEO Peter Löscher expressed in his speech in the opening ceremony that "We at Siemens are not intimidated by the current economic slowdown. We know, from this experience, that every crisis comes to an end" and that every crisis creates opportunities. And we continue to see great opportunities here in Turkey. Siemens Turkey Energy Sector today exports its products to five continents and to more than 80 countries worldwide. And we expect our new Gebze plant to boost these exports."
Siemens AG Enerji Sektör CEO'su Wolfgang Dehen stated in his speech that "We are in the midst of fascinating developments in the field of energy technology. With technical innovations and completely new system models, we are laying the foundation for ensuring that mankind will have enough energy in the future. Energy that is clean, efficient, sustainable " and affordable. Our new plant here in Gebze will make an important contribution to this future."
Siemens A.Ş. CEO Hüseyin Gelis expressed in his opening speech that Siemens has broken many new grounds in Turkey and spoke "We feel right proud of continuing to make investment in our country in hard times. We will increase added value which we provide to Turkey further with the production and employment which we will create in Gebze facilities after Kartal facilities".
Siemens Gebze Facilities will be one of the most innovative facilities of Europe at the same time. The facility which will create a healthy environment for its employees and will significantly save energy costs as a result of efficient usage of natural resources. 25 percent energy saving is targeted with usage of highly efficient, technological and innovative systems in applications such as lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation. Similarly, 50 percent water will be saved in buildings with usage of batteries with sensors and collection and revaluation of rain water. Also it is planned to get water saving in the same amount in landscape areas by preferring local plants consuming less water instead of import grass and using dripping system instead of sprinkler watering system.
