According to the agreement, in Turkey, the reference applications of the SOMATOM Definiton computerized tomography and AXIOM Artis dBA angiography systems will be implemented at Hacettepe University. As a part of the cooperation, the feedback reports prepared by Hacettepe University Hospitals will constitute an information source for the R&D studies conducted by Siemens.

With the "Academic Development Agreement" signed between Hacettepe University and Siemens, Hacettepe University will provide scientific support for the development of the application of angiography and computerized tomography technologies.

The reference applications of the new generation "Dual Source" computerized tomography device SOMATOM Definiton produced by Siemens and the first bi-plan flat panel angiography device, AXIOM Artis Dba will be implemented at Hacettepe University. The feedback reports which shall be prepared by the university in conjuction with this strategic cooperation, a first in Turkey, will constitute an information source for the scientific studies conducted by Siemens. Thus, this partnership, which is the most comprehensive cooperation agreement signed since a long time, will contribute a great deal to the R&D departments of both parties.

Professor Uğur Erdener M.D., the General Director of Hacettepe University Hospitals, evaluated the "Academic Development Agreement" signed with Siemens as follows : This agreement made with Siemens, which is a technological giant in its field, above all represents the confidence in Hacettepe and this makes us proud. Hacettepe will share its superior knowledge accumulation and experience with Siemens, and in return will put this technology, that money can't buy, to the service of the Turkish people. Besides, it should not be forgotten that the number of patients that shall be attended will increase considerably as a result of this cooperation."

On the other hand, Ufuk Eren, Department Head of Siemens Medical Solutions, commented on the cooperation between the two institutions at the press conference made in conjuction with the signing of the agreement, as follows : " We are proud of the realization of the scientific and technological cooperation between Siemens, which invests billions of euros to research and development, and Hacettepe University, a leading medical institution in the Turkish medical system. The trials of the newest software and technological devices for computerized tomography in the Radiology Department of Hacettepe University, within the framework of this cooperation, will result in more worldwide original publications, research and prestige for the university.
