With "For The Environment and Our Future Project" which has been held by volunteer group, namely Siemens Environment Club, founded by Siemens Turkey employees in order to increase environmental awareness in 1996, over 7.000 elementary school students has been reached in Kartal region of Istanbul. The project involves treatment facility visits besides practical, interactive education, theatric performances and competitions. The project, coordinated by Siemens Environmental Management and Corporate Communication Departments, has won the first prize in Personal Prize Category by the jury formed by scientist and Siemens specialists because of being an exclusive environmental education project and personal commitment of Siemens employees towards environmental protection.

At "Siemens Environment Awards 2003 Competition" which 237 team from Siemens companies in 25 different countries, there were first prizes in four different categories.At the competition;

• In Product-Related Environment Protection Category; "Pro-Med" Project and "Refurbished Unit" Business Division
• In Product Development Category; proportioning system for manufacturing of low-pressure mercury-vapor lamps developed by Osram Foshan Lighting Company
• In Environment Management and Communications" Category; "Process Management for Environment, Health & Safety" developed by Braunschweig
• In Personal Prize Category; Siemens Turkey with "For The Environment and Our Future Project" have one the first prize.

Moreover, the project that allows virtual data flow instead of business travels, "Siwa- Plan" software managing water management efficiency, and new fuel- efficient, low- noise diesel locomotive "Euro-Runner" projects has received special prizes.

Prof. Dr. Edward G. Krubasik, Member of the Siemens Corporate Executive Board, said at the awards ceremony of Siemens Environmental Awards 2003 Competition in Munich "Anticipating environmental strategies in industry can save company budgets millions of euros and open up new business opportunities. Siemens promotes the mindset of linking entrepreneurship with environmental protection. So its products are a synthesis of environmental protection and outstanding consumer benefit".
