With efficient and green solutions and services in energy, industry, healthcare and IT sectors, Siemens has brought together academicians and representatives of the business world, nongovernmental organizations and authorities to evaluate and discuss the Sustainable Future."Siemens Answers: Sustainable Future" conference has been held at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Hall including more than 500 participants to discuss sustainable growth in different sectors.
The conference was hosted by Peter Löscher, Siemens AG President & CEO and Hüseyin Gelis, Siemens A.Ş. CEO. Patrick Dixon, a well known futurist has been ranked as one of the world's 20 most influential business thinkers alive today, is the keynote speaker. He made a speech on "Sustainagility" and top managers of Siemens AG including Paul van Son, DESERTEC Initiative CEO, made presentations to enable the discussion of different topics at the conference.
Hüseyin Gelis, Siemens San. Ve Tic. A.Ş. CEO, made the opening speech and stated that importance that we place for the sustainability comes from our responsibilities for the next generations and "responsible growth" is the single valid key. Gelis also addedt that the way of thinking and therefore the change in behaviour are preconditions for a sustainable future and a liveable world could be created by innovative solutions.
Peter Löscher, Siemens AG President & CEO, stated in his speech that there were 3 megatrends that will affect the future of the countries and the world and it is necessary to create long term values for the developments to be created by these megatrends. He stated that the answer lies in sustainability. Löscher also added that sustainability means for Siemens, economy, ecology and social responsibility dimensions as a whole. He states: "Today it is time not only to produce innovative products and services but also to develop and offer green products. Besides this as Siemens: We don't just offer green and environmental products but also implement these solutions and services within our company. A worldwide example to that is our Gebze plant with LEED certificate where so far we saved up to 25% energy and up to 50% water".
Siemens "e-car" also has been demonstrated at the conference. It is remarkable in both being environment friendly in transportation and having renewable energy feature. Electric automobile "e-car" serves as mobile energy source in a sense as it is designed to be able to return the surplus energy to the system.
A visionary scenario for "Istanbul 2023" representing 100th year of Turkish Rebuplic, also displayed at "Siemens Answers: Sustainable Future" event. Creating solutions for efficient energy generation and consumption, effective healthcare services, waste water treatment, environment-friendly smart traffic systems, city management system as well as optimized buildings and plants were discussed at 5 different parallel sessions.
Siemens Day is a "Carbon Free" event. Carbon emissions which will be released into the atmosphere during this event has been offset through purchase of Voluntary Carbon Credits.
