Turkey faces the challenge of meeting the rapidly increasing demand for electrical energy, the driving force behind technical advancement and prosperity. In order to meet this demand, common to most of the emerging and developing countries, with minimum cost and simultaneously protecting the environment and preserving natural resources, close cooperation of government units, investors, local and foreign suppliers and operators is required.
Siemens has been committed to the electrification of Turkey from the very beginning. The Power Generation Group utilized its system-engineering expertise, leading-edge technology and top-quality to contribute to all kinds of power plants in Turkey for the satisfaction of our customers and partners, with whom our relationships have been structured to workout for the benefit of all parties and our country in the long term
Beyond our supplies and services for all kind of power plants, Siemens is also well equipped to take part in Turkey's power generation as an investor in private power projects. Moreover, as part of Siemens Turkey, a leader in Turkish electrical industry for many decades, Power Generation Group Turkey constantly increases local contribution to power plant projects, most significantly in high-technology fields such as engineering of automation systems, power systems and after-sale services, to support the cost efficiency of our projects and Turkey's international competitiveness.
Siemens Power Generation Group is the only supplier in the world to offer complete range of technology in products and services for economical and environmentally friendly generation of power. From large scale fossil-fueled, hydroelectric and nuclear power plants to decentralized power generation systems using cogeneration plants and fuel cell systems.
Since 1881 Siemens Power Generation Group has built or equipped power plants in over 100 countries. Today, power plants with a total capacity of more than 600.000 MW, which this group has supplied or implemented, are in operation. As one of the largest company in the international power plant market, Siemens Power Generation Group is represented around the world by its local companies and manufacturing facilities like Siemens Power Generation Group in Turkey.
Beyond Siemens Turkey's Power Generation Group is in continuous cooperation with the headquarters in Germany, in a wide field of activities that range from the supply of gas and steam turbines and electric and electronic equipment required for all types of power plants to turnkey delivery of complete power plants.
Siemens 's engineering and production capacity in Turkey has enabled to develop expertise in the engineering, manufacturing, installation and startup of medium and low voltage switchboards, lighting, grounding and communication systems, instrumentation and control systems and power distribution systems for thermal, hydrolic and industrial power plants. Our comprehensive range of products and services for power plants extend from high efficiency gas turbines to computerized control systems; from gas-insulated high-voltage switching installations to internal paging systems, all boasting with most advanced technology.
The broad experience gained in many thermal, hydrolic and industrial power plants built in Turkey and the policy of our headquarters in Germany in terms of know-how transfer to local representatives allow Siemens Turkey Power Generation Group to be the regional competence center for many business segments in the activities within Turkey, Middle East and Turkic Republics in Asia.
The Ambarlı Natural Gas Combined Cycle Plant can be given as an example of this expertise. Siemens AG broke world records in production efficiency and the startup time for gas turbines for the 1350 MW Ambarlı Natural Gas Combined Cycle Plant built by a consortium led by Siemens Power Generation Group. The Siemens consortium supplied not only record-breaking turbines but general engineering and equipment as well.
Siemens Turkey, as a consortium member, provided medium and low voltage switchboards, lighting, grounding and communications systems, as weel as they installed all the electrical, instrumentation and control systems and also provided all the cables, from 154 kV to electronic cables.
A further reference Marmara Natural Gas Combined Cycle Plant is an indicator that Siemens is a leader on the new investment types. For the first thermal power plant of Turkey, that has built with BOT, 500 MW Marmara project Siemens AG supplied gas and steam turbines and instrumentation and control systems. The medium and low voltage systems have been delivered by Siemens Turkey and in addition to this, Siemens Turkey has participated to the engineering of instrumentation and control systems and realize the long term maintenance service.
Once again, to the first import coal plant of Turkey, 1210 MW İskenderun, that will built with BO, Siemens AG participates as an investor and in the meantime supplies the turnkey delivery of the power plant by being consortium leader. On this project Siemens Turkey Power Generation Group will realize the delivery and engineering of the medium voltage switchboards, lighting, grounding and telecommunication systems and installation of all the electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
